Uber got hacked (again)

Uber vaguely alluded to "a cybersecurity incident" over the weekend, but an 18 year old script kiddie told the New York Times they basically have God Mode on Uber's internal network. According to the Arstechnica he "likely gained initial access by contacting an Uber employee over WhatsApp", then "tricked the employee into approving a push notification for multifactor authentication", then "uncovered administrative credentials that gave access to some of Uber's crown-jewel network resources" and "took to Uber Slack channels to complain that Uber drivers are underpaid". It's unknown if the hacker/phisher got their hands on Uber customer data. It would suck if they did.

Rockstar got hacked (by the same person that hacked Uber)

Same person that popped Uber also appears to have done the same to Rockstar, leaking in-development gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 and source code from GTA5 and GTA6. Jason Schreier, a reporter for Bloomberg, tweeted that "I've confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend's massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real". You can check out the video here. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking in the leaks. It's GTA. You run around doing crimes and try not to get nicked by the coppers. It appears to be set in a pseudo Miami and the main character is a woman. Wake me up when I can buy it and a PlayStation 5.

Telco industry gearing up for Consumer Data Right

Draft Consumer Data Right rules for the telco industry dropped on Friday arvo. Telstra, Optus and TPG are the first group of telcos that'll have to support it, then after a little while all telcos with at least 30,000 customers will have to join in. I haven't read the entire rules (booorrrinnggg), but essentially your telco will make billing data, product specific data and usage data (and more) available so you can better pick the right plan or service for you based off your actual usage information. There's no date for when CDR compliance is enforced, but Telstra reckons they'll be ready for it by the end of 2023.
